Chan Long Fung, Lazarus (b.1996)

Lazarus Chan is a new media artist currently based in Hong Kong. His artistic practice delves into diverse themes, including life and death, space, consciousness, and time. Chan specializes in various mediums, such as soundscapes, electronic installations, algorithmic art, data visualization, and generative art. He graduated from the City University of Hong Kong School of Creative Media in 2019. In 2021, he was selected as an outstanding student by the Targeted Taught Postgraduate Programmes Fellowships Scheme, enabling him to pursue a Master of Arts at the Academy of Visual Arts at Hong Kong Baptist University, graduating in 2022. Born and raised in Hong Kong, where he continues to live and work, Chan’s artistic practice explores the intersections of science, technology, humanities, and art.

Since 2021, various media outlets have covered and interviewed Lazarus Chan, including City Magazine, RTHK, Marie Claire Hong Kong Edition, Sing Tao Daily, etc. He has also received invitations from multiple art institutions for art talks, commissions and exhibitions, including Art Museum of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, Hong Kong Art Center, Hong Kong Art Development Council, Hong Kong Art Festival, Hong Kong Art Museum, Hong Kong Trade Development Council - DesignInspire, Tai Kwun - Centre for Heritage and Arts, Videotage, etc. Chan has received recognition in various honours, including being longlisted for the Aesthetica Art Prize. His work has also been included in international exhibitions and events, such as INSTINC D:Art Fest in Singapore and Flipchart in The Hague. In 2025, he was invited by the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong & Macau to participate in the AI Action Summit at the Grand Palais in France as an artist, further deepening his exploration of the intersection of art and artifactual intelligence.
